As part of a child’s growth and development, he or she must learn how to brush his or her own teeth. However, teeth brushing for kids, twice a day and for two minutes each time, is not an easy task.

That is why your child’s dentists at Kidsmile made a list of things you can do to make brushing a fun and enjoyable activity for your child and the rest of the family.

Brush, Brush, Brush!

As a busy parent, you may be tempted to allow your child to skip brushing his or her teeth after a long, tiring day or perhaps during vacation time, but we request that you continue encouraging your child to do it. The more routinary and regular brushing becomes for your child, the easier it will be to make sure he or she is brushing.

Fun with sounds

Music adds a calming vibe when brushing. Music can also serve as a timer to guide your child so he or she knows how long to brush the teeth for. Take advantage of your child’s favorite song or music and have fun, brushing activity for two minutes. You can also look into buying your child a toothbrush that has buzzing sounds whenever he or she uses it. You will surely hear some giggles from your little one.

Good Job!

Positive motivation can further encourage your child to brush his or her teeth. Offer a simple reward to boost your child’s enthusiasm over teeth brushing. You can also let your child choose a book to read at bedtime. You can also allow your child to pick his or her favorite color for the toothbrush. Offering a non-food treat is also a reward that your child may look forward too.

Encouraging your child to have a good dental habit does not have to be a chore that everyone hates. By making it more fun-filled, you make your child look forward to doing this task every day.

Make teeth brushing your child’s favorite family time of the day! Try these techniques, and let us know what works for your little one.
